All-State selection who led Marion High School to 1926 state championship … 3-time All-American at Purdue University … Standing 6-6, he led Big 10 in scoring as a junior with a then-record 143 points, then helped Purdue win undisputed league title in 1930 with a 10-0 record … played on Big 10 co-champions as sophomore … member of both the Helms Basketball Hall of Fame and the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame … afer graduation, coached at Edinburg before moving east to enter Boys’ Club work … as director of Boys’ Club at Bristol, Conn., his work gained national attention … later moved to serve many years as executive director of Tampa, Fla., Boy’ Club.
