Player, coach and part-owner of Indianapolis Olympians professional team...Coached at Eaton and Jeffersonville High Schools with 118-54 record; also Frankfort, KY and Palatka, FL...3-year varsity at Yorktown HS ... 3 times all-sectional and all- county ... also baseball standout, pitching 2 championship games with a broken arm - played at Kentucky a year before entering Army Air Corps ... after his plane was shot down, spent 16 months as German POW ... lauded for uncanny backward passes and ball-handling techniques, reputedly developed practicing with volleyball in POW camp. He returned to Kentucky after the war to become a key part of the "Fabulous Five"...two NCAA championships, an NIT championship...Olympic gold medalist in 1948.
