All-American in basketball, didn't play football until he was a senior after World War II, yet still drafted by Chicago Bears ... played pro basketball 2 years with Boston Celtics ... played professional baseball in New York Yankee & Chicago Cub farm systems ... in high school, he was class president 3 straight years ... called by his high school coach, John Wooden, 'one of the finest high school athletes that I ever had the privilege of coaching.'
