First Marion High School player to score over 1000 pts . . . set all-time NCC scoring record . . . first player to average over 20 ppg . . . held all Marion scoring records, 30 pts in a game, 490 in a season and 1015 in caree . . . played 78 consecutive games on varsity that went to Final 4 in 1950 and Sweet 16 in 1951 and 1952 . . . Coach, Woody Weir . . . played 3 yrs on IU varsity, 1 year as starter and member of 1954 Big Ten Champs . . . Coach, Branch McCracken . . . Coaching - began as an assistant at Van Buren 1957-59 . . .1959-62 Urbana, 1961 team won only Wabash County Championship in school history . . . 1962-65 Montpelier 1965 team had an 21-3, best in school's history and lost to Marion in the Regional . . . 1965-78 Scottsburg, 1969 team was undefeated setting an all-time state team scoring record of 90 ppg; 3 Conference, 6 Holiday, 3 Sectionals, 2 Regionals . . . overall 275-148, sent over 50 players to college, never coached a player over 6'4", pioneer in weight training; used full-court zone every game for 32 minutes . . . Assistant Coach Scottsburg 1991-1997.
