Helped lead his Stendal Aces to 3 straight Pike County champion- ships, 1927 through ’30, despite fact team had no gymnasium and practiced outdoors … captained Evansville College team in ’34 … played 4 years there, teaming with Hall of Famer Arad McCutchan … a 25-year coaching career – all at small schools, ended with a 319-134 record … stops included Cynthiana, Stendal, Greencastle, Cannelton and Winslow … coached Winslow to 3 appearances in Sweet 16 … his ’49 team was undefeated, but lost in sectional title game to Jasper, the eventual state champion … served as principal at Winslow and then at Fort Branch.
