The leading scorer for three seasons at Arlington H.S., he led them to three Rush County Tournament championships, three sectional finals appearances and a 70-23 record in four seasons...  Averaged over 19 points per game and double-figure rebounds in his junior and senior seasons, totaling a Rush County record of 1,497 career points…  Arlington scored a state record 47 points in one quarter versus Laurel H.S. his senior year…  a three-year letter winner at Eastern Kentucky University, he set the school single-season field goal percentage record (.502) and led them to an Ohio Valley Conference championship as a junior and earned 1962 1st team OVC all-conference honors.
