3-sport standout at New Castle with all-North Central honors in both football and basketball... twice all-sectional and all-regional... helped write key chapter in Indiana basketball history when he matched up with Jimmy Rayl in the last regular season gamed played in New Castle's tiny Church St. gym... Rayl scored 49 but Pavy hit 23 of 36 shots and 5 of 8 free throws for 51 points in a game forever known as the "Church Street Shootout"... 1190 career points... captain of Indiana All-Star team... high school, all-sport starter at IU as sophomore before he was paralyzed in auto accident... coached high school ball and was an assistant superintendent of New Castle Community Schools.
