All time single game and career scorer for New Castle Chrysler High School, scored 57 points in 1983 semi-state, All-NCC three years, All-State two years, Mr. Basketball 1983 ... played for his father, Hall of Famer, Sam Alford...1984 Olympic Gold Medalist...four-year team MVP at Indiana University, two-time All American 1986 & 1987, Big 10 Champs 1987, National Champs 1987...played three years with Dallas Mavericks and one year with Golden State Warriors, made it to conference finals in 1988...head coach at Manchester (1992-95), three times coach of the year, national runnerup (31-1), Southwest Missouri State (1995-99) took team to Sweet 16 in 1999...University of Iowa (1999-2007), two Big 10 titles, first undefeated home season...currently coaching University of New Mexico...most collegiate wins of any coach 44 years old and younger.
