A 3-sport athlete at New Castle High School ... played football and basketball at Purdue ... came to Muncie Central High School right after college, charged with building school's basketball program ... coached 13 seasons ... won state title in his first season there, 1928 ... lost in finals 2 years later to Washington, then returned in '31 to take championship again ... under his tutelage, Central lost only 2 sectionals ... 7 regional championships ... overall record 263-101 ... left coaching in 1940 to enter private business.
