"Les" was a 2-time All-Stater at Martinsville...captain and only senior on 1927 state champions, winning the final state title game played in "Cowbarn" on Indiana State Fairgrounds...played a reserve role on Martinsville's 1924 championship team...also went to finals as a junior, losing out to 'Stretch' Murphy's Marion team...a standout shot-putter, placing second in state track meet...honorable mention All-American at Indiana State...played basketball 4 years and track 3 years there...called by many veteran observers the greatest basketball player in Martinsville's history.
