All Sectional forward in his only season on the
Indianapolis Tech varsity, Baird also played varsity baseball. A three-year stand-out at Butler, he led the Bulldogs in scoring twice. He was a Helms All-American in 1934. He coached at Broad Ripple High School for 17 years. His best season there was 1945 when a 27-2 season ended with a
championship game loss to Evansville Bosse. As a professional player, he set league scoring records with the Indianapolis Kautskys where he played for ten years. |
