Starting center on 2 state championship teams in 1944 and '45 at Evansville Bosse...4 varsity basketball letters...All-State recognition...3-time all-conference player...also was a 4-yr starting catcher for Bosse's baseball team...2-yr starter and 3-year letter-winner at Purdue...also won 2 baseball letters...began coaching career at Peru, winning 4 sectional titles in 5 years...moved to Madison where he coached the Cubs to 3 straight undefeated seasons, 1959-'61...achieved a record 61 consecutive regular-season victories in that string…won 13 sectionals, 4 regionals and 1 semi-state…through 1974, Madison record was 227-90 and 305-129 overall.
