Played 2 yrs at Ft Wayne South Side for Hall of Famer Burl Friddle ...scoring record senior yr at Franklin College, where he was 4-yr varsity player and captain final 2 seasons...2-time All-State...began coaching career at Covington where he won 6 sectionals and 1 regional in 6 yrs... coaching asst was Virgil Sweet who would go on to his own great success... moving back to alma mater, coached 16 yrs, winning 7 sectionals, 6 regionals and 2 semistates...South captured state title in '58.
