ability to bring out excellence in his players, despite
the fact that much of his career was spent at schools
with fewer than 300 students ... coached at Chester
Center, Auburn, Logansport, and Vincennes ... won 14
sectionals, 7 regionals and a semi state ... his '49
Auburn team made it to state finals ... his teams earned
top-10 recognition 6 of those years ... coached a
Trester Award winner, one high school All-American and
numerous All-Staters ... developed players for such
strong college programs as Purdue, Indiana, Tennessee,
