Leading scorer for 1928 state championship team...but best known for hitting one of the most famous shots in state tourney history... trailing 12-11 to Martinsville in the '28 state title game, he took his own center jump tip, turned and fired a perfect shot from behind the center line to give Muncie the victory over John Wooden and Martinsville...was top state finals scorer with 34 points in 4 games...also anchored Coach Pete Jolly's state finalist team as a junior...had an outstanding basketball career at Fresno State, where he was also a standout high jumper. |
