A 4-year starter at Vevay High School, graduating in 1937 ... also a track standout, twice reading the state meet as a pole-vaulter ...3-year letter winner at Indiana University ... top backcourt substitute for '40 national championship team ... a starter and team leader as a senior in 1941 ... began a long and distinguished coaching career at Aurora, where his '43 team made it to Sweet 16 ... 8 years at Rushville where he won 60% of his games with 5 sectionals and 2 regionals…highly respected as a gentleman coach who never drew a technical foul, yet was a fierce competitor. Served on the IHSAA Board and was Rushville's athletic director for 25 years.
