Mr. Basketball ... won Trester Award after leading Indianapolis Tech to runner-up spot to Muncie Central's state champions ... as a junior, Tech was ousted in semistate by eventual champion Madison ... four-sport high school athlete ... two-time MVP at Purdue University, where he averaged 16.6 points in 66 games to leave as schools leading career scorer ... coached at Southwestern and Scecina high schools before becoming assistant coach at Purdue ... became head coach at Butler Univ. where he was twice named Coach of the Year.
