Briefly played AAU ball… top varsity performer at Lafayette Jefferson ... helped win 3 straight sectionals, losing each year in regional championship game ... lettered in football, track and golf ... 3-year varsity player at Purdue ... high scorer in first college game ... Boilermakers won or shared Big 10 title each season ... though only 6-3, he had an uncanny knack of controlling the tip in the days of a center jump after every basket ... that talent helped Purdue overcome a 15 point deficit in final 12 minutes of game with Michigan, with the victory giving the Boilers their third straight league crown…named to Indiana college all-stars…all Big Ten in '36.
