Harley scored 37 points in the final two games of the 1953 state tourney. He was the Trester Award recipient for that year and was voted an All-State. Gerstmeyer, coached by Hall of Famer Howard Sharpe, won the 110-team Wabash Valley Tournament. He spent a year at Indiana State, then became the leading scorer in
Western Europe Armed Forces in 1956. He returned to the University of Louisville, earning 3 varsity letters. He is half of one of the state's famous "brother acts." His twin, Hall of Famer
Arley, was one class behind him because of a
childhood injury. |
