At 6 foot 3 inches tall, 'Red' towered over many small-school rivals at Vevay from 1919 to 1921...played college basketball at Hanover ...began long career in public education as teacher and coach at Vevay while still in college...won 3 sectionals in 12 years at little Vevay...then won the 1938 sectional during his first year at Lawrenceburg ...in 1943 he returned to Vevay as superintendent of schools...during this tenure he served for many years on the IHSAA Board of Control, including a year as President of that body.
