2-yr varsity player for Rochester Zebras despite weighing in at 125 lb...played on 2 sectional championship teams...captain, MVP and leading scorer in 1945...set school free throw record and finished 2nd in conference in scoring...also conf. high jump champ and undefeated in 3 yrs as softball pitcher...following service, earned 5 letters at Valparaiso, led nation in free throw pct...Valpo's captain, MVP, and top scorer as senior...coached and taught 6 yrs at Talma High, then returned to Rochester where he served for 32 years as a teacher, coach, athletic director, counselor, and assistant principal…authored a book on Rochester sports history, served twenty years on the City Council, and helped found the Northern Lakes Conference. |
