Born on a White Co. farm near Monticello, Gorman attended the one-room Spencer school and Idaville High School, & was graduated from Burnettsville H.S....fresh from the original Indiana Law School in 1916, whose 3 yr. course he completed in 1 yr., he accepted a position on the Tech faculty never anticipating he would be there for the next 43 yrs. as teacher, ath. dir.,& vice-prin...as interest in high sch. athletics increased, the ath. dir. of the then 3 Indpls. city high schools succeeded in 1920 in getting the annual state high school basketball tournament moved to Indianapolis.
