Darrell was a four-year starter for Wilkie High school with a total of 1,262 points scored. He was named to the All-Section, Regional, and Indiana All Star teams. He was proud to be a member of the team which won Elwood's first sectional tournament. When selected as a member of the 1983 Silver Anniversary team he was living in Elwood and was a secondary teacher and coach at Elwood Community High School. He Started 3 seasons at Purdue on teams that twice finished in the top 3 of the Big Ten, when Ohio State was #1 in the land…coached for 18 years and closed out his career as athletic director at Elwood.
