Began teaching at
Whiteland in 1952 through 1955, became leader of GAA
Club which provided girls the opportunity to play
intramural sports ... took best GAA players and
played against Center Grove and Edinburgh in
basketball and softball ... during years at Franklin
College coached volleyball, basketball, softball and
track and field ... remained active in high school
athletics as a college representative for the Girls
Athletic Association by attending state wide play
day, camp and hosting clinics for high school
coaches ... one of the first coaches to provide
summer camps for high school players to improve
their game ... served as Indiana Chairman of the
Girls and Women's Sports Division of the AAHPER to
promote girl's and women's sports ... served on the
first IHSAA Girls' Advisory Board in 1973 to help
organize girls' participation in organized sports
and tournaments ... while coaching at Franklin
College in the early 1970's became only one of the
two colleges in Indiana to offer athletic
scholarships to females ... recruited many of
Indiana's top players, including 1976 Miss
Basketball, Judi Warren. |
