GAME WINNING SHOT
What's it feel like to win the Indiana High School Championship? The
Hall of Fame puts you in the middle of the game! Count down the seconds
out loud and make the game winning show at the buzzer -- the game is in
your hands.
RELIVE HISTORY!
Game films and thousands of photographs and artifacts tell the story of
Indiana's fabulous basketball tradition. A new comprehensive interactive
multimedia database computer system allows you to research and relive
Hoosier Hysteria. Meet the inductees and read or hear about their
contributions to Indiana basketball. Make an appointment to visit the
John Jordan library and get a more comprehensive look at your favorite
player, team, or school. Meet the heroes of the game, from the days of
peach baskets and laced balls, through this year's champions! Referees,
writers, and fans as well as players and coaches; boys basketball and
girls basketball and girls basketballs; the college and pro careers of
former Indiana stars -- every story has a place!

Scorekeeping became more sophisticated in the 1940's. In gyms all
across the state, stylish electric scoreboards were signs of the
times. |
|
Because coaches were restricted from talking to their players
(except during half-time), portable rest stations known as "towel
boxes" were rolled out to players who huddled among themselves at
the free throw line during timeouts. |

HALL OF FAME
INDUCTEES
Players become eligible for Hall of Fame induction 25 years after their
high school graduation. Coaches are eligible after accumulating 25 years
of varsity experience or after retirement. While anyone can nominate an
individual to the Hall of Fame a state-wide board of directors (composed
of coaches, journalists, administrators, and businessmen) oversees the
Hall of Fame selection process, each year appointing a selection
committee representing all parts of the state.
In addition to honoring inductees, each year the Hall presents a Silver
Medal to an individual deserving special recognition for his/her
contributions to Indiana high school basketball. A Silver Anniversary
Team of outstanding senior basketball players from 25 years ago is
selected.
