The Indiana Basketball of Fame will induct its class for 2004, on the women's side of the program, on Saturday, April 24 at the Primo Banquet Hall in Indianapolis.  Ticket information can be secured by calling 765-529-1891.

Bernita J. Adkins (Deceased) (Mexico 1951; Ball State 1955/Purdue 1960)

GAA coach beginning 1960…career record 218-98…coached at Portage 1963-1987…Sweet Sixteen 1975-76…Coach of Year 1983…IGCSA Marian Archer Award…never had a losing season nor a technical foul…promoted basketball in the early years by coaching, officiating, being District I GAA Chairman and promoting district tournaments and being a district representative on the IHSAA Girls Advisory Committee.

Cindy Piet Cruz (Scottsburg 1977; Univ. of Louisville 1977-79)

Indiana All-Star…All-State, 3 year team captain, MVP 1975 & 1977…All-Sectional and Regional teams 1977…team steals award 1973-77…scored 1135 career points…while playing at University of Louisville, Memphis State Holiday Tourney 1st team 1978, Kentucky WICT All-Conference Team 1979.

Connie Garrett (Marion 1963; Franklin 1967/Ball State 1970 MS)

MVP senior year college team…head girls basketball coach at Clinton Prairie 1972-present…32 year career record 345-254…won State Championship 1999…coached 2 Indiana All-Stars…won 7 sectionals, 4 regionals…coach of Indiana All-Star Team in 2000.

Chanda Kline (Warsaw 1978; Indiana State 1978-80)

Miss Basketball 1978…averaged 19 ppg and 11 rpg senior year…leading scorer in 1976 state tourney with 45 points, 1,113 points in career…earned 13 varsity letters…played two years at Indiana State…career cut short by a serious knee injury.

Florida Lowry (Fontanet 1947; Indiana State)

Coached basketball 36 years…Cambridge City 1951-57, Clay City 1957-58, West Vigo 1960-62, Terre Haute Gertsmeyer 1962-71, Terre Haute North 1971-89…SIAG Coach of Year 1975, 1977, 1980…nominee for State Coach of the Year 1987.

Rochelle Newell (Rochester 1976; Indiana State 1980)

Indiana All-Star…1250 career points…MVP 4 years…Varsity starter at Indiana State 4 years…scored 1,435 career points (fifth on ISU all-time list) and had a career scoring average of 14.6 ppg (6th on ISU list)…State Champions 1978 and 1980.

Dru Cox Pearcy (Plainfield 1977; Indiana State 1981)

Three-year starter for Plainfield…career scoring average 21.2…All-County, All-Conference 1976 and 1977…All-State 1977…Prep All-American, Parade All-American…while at Indiana State scored 820 points and grabbed 598 rebounds (11th on all-time ISU list) in three seasons…career rebound average of 7.7 is 8th at ISU and her 199 career steals is 7th all--time…injured and did play senior year.
