MVP 3 of 4 varsity years at Columbus...all-conference...at Indiana University, concentrated on baseball...team won Big 10 in '48...Balfour Award winner as a junior that season...played for Cummins Engine's state AAU championship team in '48...coached at Waldron High School '49-52, with 48-18 record...took over Columbus reins in '52...concluded career with 653-318 record...22 sectional titles, 11 regional championships...2 semi-state titles, earning his team Final Four berths in '64 and '75...coached Columbus to back-to-back unbeaten regular seasons in '63 & '64.
