Led State High to state ranking as senior...3-yr varsity performer ...co-captain as senior ... lettered 4 years in tennis and 2 in baseball ...attended ISU following World War II, playing for the legendary John Wooden for 2 yrs, and then for Coach John Longfellow...named to Helms All-American first team in '48...named MVP of NAIB tourney at Kansas City...nation's 10th leading scorer that year...as a high school coach, he led Fowler to 3 sectional crowns in 4 seasons...returned to Indiana State as varsity basketball coach...held that position 12 years and was tennis coach for 25...he was nationally ranked in both singles and doubles on senior tennis tour.
