A four-year starter on one of the great teams to never win a state title, Howard Sharpe's Terre Haute Gerstmeyer Black Cats. With older nephews Arley and Harley, he reached the championship game as a sophomore in 1953. He won four city and two Wabash Valley titles. He was a three year starter at guard for the University of Louisville, two time captain, all-tourney team member in 1959, and a member of the U of L Hall of Fame. He coached high school basketball for ten years in Kentucky.
