Indiana Basketball HOF to recognize 60 years of New Castle Fieldhouse

Nov. 17 event is free to public

(NEW CASTLE) – The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame will host an event at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 17 to recognize and reminisce on 60 years of history at the legendary New Castle Fieldhouse.

On November 21, 1959 the first high school basketball game was played in a venue that would come to be labeled “the largest and finest high school gymnasium in the world.”  The facility, its impact on the community, great players and great games are set to be the impetus for memories and stories to be shared during the event.

A roundtable discussion of the facility’s 60-year history will include local basketball historian Neil Thornhill and numerous players, coaches and administrators to have been a part of the history of the fieldhouse.

A temporary exhibit of New Castle Fieldhouse history will also be on display during the event.

The event is free and open to the public.  Following the program, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame museum at no charge.

The event will take place in the Danielson Theater, inside the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame at 408 Trojan Lane, New Castle, IN 47362.  Museum doors open at 1:00 PM and the program will begin at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 17.
